What’s new for Outshine Adventures in 2024?! We’re so glad you asked! For those of you that know us personally, you know that Sunshine is going through a big transition. They’re incredibly grateful for all the love and support they’ve received from the community on their gender transformation journey! In fact, transformation is the word of the year for us and we have some big news to share as we transform Outshine into something new in 2024! Our new year intentions include more travel and new adventures in new places! That starts with our first international retreat in Panama in March and we would love to share that experience with you! We still need 4 adventurous women/femme folks to join us and are offering big discounts and/or payment plans to those that can fill those spots last minute! We’re partnering with Cumberland River Compact, Responsible Stewardship, Alt Route Meals, and REI Brentwood to help with our first litter clean up of 2024 in Nashville on Saturday, February 24 from 12-3 PM and invite you to join us!
Why Nashville? Even though it isn’t in our neck of the woods, we know first hand that we’re all downstream from someone and lots of litter washes downstream. We also know that we are all connected and helping our neighbors is good for the health of our environment. Will you help us give back and steward the lands that give so much to us? We will be offering a shuttle from Chattanooga to Nashville and back so all you have to give is your time! Volunteer sign up below. Email firstname.lastname@example.org if you want to ride out with us.
|Big high fives to our winter hike challenge participants! We had 39 folks join that have been contributing miles to the collective good of their own health and towards the health of our environment. We are happy to announce that we planted 50 trees with One Tree Planted in the Appalachia region all thanks to their participation! This act will help future generations breathe easier!
We have one more group hike scheduled for March 2 at 10:30 am. Even if you aren’t part of the challenge, you can join these group hikes. To incentivize folks to attend, we have partnered with Rock Creek Outfitters, REI Chattanooga and Four Bridges to offer some cool prizes and one lucky hiker will walk away with a $100 Rock Creek gift card at our next hike! Here’s to 90 miles in 90 days!
|We are so excited to announce that registration is officially open for the first annual Chattanooga Outdoor Festival! This exciting one day event hosted by Outshine Adventures and Nomad Be Happy will take place on April 6 from 12-7 PM at the newly renovated Chattanooga Choo Choo gardens. We will be celebrating the diverse outdoor adventures Chattanooga has to offer with activities, vendors, live music, food and more! Thanks to our awesome sponsors, Rock/Creek and Roamstead, this event is free to the public and will have something for all ages! Mark your calendars and make plans to celebrate all things outdoors with us on April 6! Be sure to get your free tickets in advance so you’ll be entered for a chance to win a weekend camper van rental from Nomad Be Happy to experience Chattanooga’s thriving outdoor scene first hand!
|After a day of celebrating with our outdoor community, we’re rolling up our sleeves and inviting folks to join us for a litter clean up at Harrison Bay State Park on April 7 from 9 am – 12 pm to be good stewards of the outdoor places we love to play in. As many of you know, litter in our waterways is a big problem. Paddle boards will be available for those that want to get out on the water to assist with litter removal. We will also have boots on the ground for the litter on land. During the event, we will provide all the necessary equipment, including gloves, trash bags, and litter pickers. By taking part in this Litter Clean Up, not only will you be contributing to the preservation of the park, but you’ll also be helping to protect the wildlife that calls it home. So, mark your calendars and don’t miss out on this opportunity to make a difference. Everyone is welcome to participate! Thanks to our partners/sponsors: Harrison Bay State Park, Responsible Stewardship, and Alt Route Meals.
|April 22 is Earth Day and we’re celebrating with one of our most popular offerings! A Full Moon Yoga Hike at Lula Lake! This unique offering is a great way to ground yourself with mother earth, connect with the lunar cycle and rhythms of nature all while gathered in community in a scenic landscape. We’ll guide you on a 3.5 mile hike to view Lula Falls before heading up to the bluff, where Michelle will lead a gentle lunar yoga practice as the full moon rises over the valley. Participants will need a yoga mat, water, a headlamp, and are asked to wear sturdy shoes for the hiking portion. Proceeds benefit Lula Lake’s conservation efforts. *No prior experience necessary, all folks are welcome.
We invite you to adventure differently by renting Outshine, the solar powered adventure van for your next vancation. This custom built Vandoit van is ready for adventure and winter road trips with a built in furnace!

If y’all read last month’s newsletter, then you may remember us talking about how successful and hard 2023 was for us. As small business owners, we feel like we’re on a scary roller coaster ride of emotions and completely dependent on the spending habits /support of our community for our income. We were very intentional about building community in 2023 and really enjoyed connecting with so many beautiful people in so many beautiful places! Truly, it was a year for the memory books and you all helped us thrive, so thank you!
Sunshine here: I started this business because I loved being a tour guide and sharing outdoor experiences with others. I found solace and healing spending time in nature after my cancer scare and wanted to give this gift to others through unique tour offerings. But, if I’m being honest I burnt myself out saying yes to too much and not slowing down to take care of myself. Michelle and I have come to realize that what we’re doing isn’t sustainable and instead of trying to scale up, which most businesses do to grow, we are going to scale down and do something completely different. Call us crazy or call us courageous, we’re doing what we think is best for us in this season of our lives.
With all that said, we are excited to share that we’re collaborating with Vandoit and Nomad Be Happy to embark on a 6 month road tour starting in May 2024! Our new year intentions were to travel more and have new adventures in new places and we are positively pumped those manifestations are coming true! We don’t know exactly where this journey will take us or what that means for Outshine’s tours locally, but we know this transformation is right for us and that along the way we will continue to connect with beautiful people in beautiful places. We hope you’ll come along for the ride.
With love and gratitude,
